In the history of New York nightclubs and the social scene, Studio 54 is legendary. Although only open for 33 months, Studio 54 was able to define an era and will forever have a place in the history of the ’70s.

Studio 54 was the place to see and be seen and drew thousands that included the rich and famous. Regular visitors included Diana Ross, Elizabeth Taylor, Andy Warhol, Mick Jagger, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Cher, John Travolta, Tina Turner, and Elton John. To name but a few.

Getty Images is proud to support amfAR with this curated portfolio of images by Sonia Moskowitz, the in-house photographer of Studio 54.

This “Inside the Studio” portfolio is a collection of images that will give you an inside look into one of the most inaccessible nightclubs in the world.
