The 2006 portrait of “Grace” by Marcos Marinis part of the Princess Art Collection displayed at the Musée de Monaco. The portrait is displayed side by side with an Andy Warhol painting of Princess Caroline both in the Museum and on a page of the Museum’s catalog. Marcos now creates a new portrait of Princess Grace every year and is donating this official 2018 portrait to the amfAR Gala São Paulo auction. It was originally made for the Grimaldi family based on a photograph that is part of the Princess Collection.
Marcos Marin is a highly respected member of the international art community. The artworks he creates, whether paintings or sculptures, are very distinctive and easy to recognize at a glance for his manipulation of optical effects and perspectives.
Marcos is the official court painter by appointment to His Serene Highness Albert II, Sovereign Prince of Monaco. He is a member of Fine Art Academy in Portugal, Italy, and Russia. Among his patrons are Pierre Cardin, Stanley Ho, and Prince Albert. Marcos has been commissioned to create official monuments in both Monaco and France, including the portrait of Princess Grace in the Musée de Monaco and the official monument of Prince Rainier III in the Principality.
